European Summer School for Innovation in Chronic Disease Intervention

During the two-week euVENTION programme, multidisciplinary teams of students develop ideas into business models that can address challenges given by industry partners, academia, non-profit organisations or the participants themselves. The innovations they work on should contribute to healthy living and active aging for people with chronic diseases.

About this activity

Participants in the euVENTION Summer School are expected to come up with healthcare solutions using co-creation, design thinking, rapid prototyping and business modelling. Participants are prepared for this activity with inspirational lectures about the basic background of innovation to address chronic diseases. This is followed by guided working groups to help students develop their innovation skills and their solution. Participants co-design, validate and test ideas at each stage, with all persons concerned. By the end of euVENTION, participants will have gone through all phases of a real-world innovation trajectory, and they will have acquired the necessary set of skills and knowledge to start entrepreneurial activities.

As this is the third edition of euVENTION, the project will not only focus on giving a world-class learning experience to help form the next generation of health-entrepreneurs, but it will also seek a sustainability model so that it can continue without EIT Health support in the coming years. The euVENTION Summer School has been shown to work well and is highly recommended, which is why EIT Health support is being used to help convince industry partners to enter into a sustainable funding model. The results are expected to provide a roadmap for making other EIT Health Summer Schools sustainable.
